Resolutions are so five minutes ago…

 

So I have never really made New Years resolutions. I’ve always said, “Why  wait til the new year? If you want to change something, do it now!”  What I was really saying was, “I can’t hold true to a resolution for more than five minutes so why bother?”.  What a schmuck (insert giggle).

At this point in my life I am beginning to realize I have a lot to improve upon and not as much time to do it. As I begin to list the changes I would like to make…omigosh there are so many!  And as bizarre as it would sound to non-virtual world participants, I have been settling on goals for Frothy as well.

This past year has been a remarkable one for me, both as my real self and as Frothy. I have had to deal with some pretty scary health issues with one of my children. Thankfully, all seems well for now and he is being closely monitored by more than one doctor. This has caused me to re-prioritize many things, including how Frothy spends her time. MyLifeAsFrothy was therefor put on the back burner. But I think it’s time to clean out the cobwebs and try to Frankenstein it to life again.

So what’s on the menu for today? Ghee Girl 2016!! Just typing that I want to faint. Delicately. On an elegant Victorian fainting couch. Someone pass me some smelling salts and a Pink Lady!

I am in total shock, but yes, I have entered the Ghee Girl 2016 contest. I have been a loyal fan of Ghee for a long time. Warm and Bea are amazing content creators with amazing style and vision. Their clothing is always fresh, unique, and inspirational. You can always find something new that no one else on the grid has in their store.

To enter the contest, I put together an outfit that is supposed to sum up the Ghee Girl. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? How do you sum up chic, classy, elegant, sporty, saucy, tempting, daring, edgy, feminine, powerful, professional, fun, effervescent all in one outfit? OI! So not easy.

I went through my inventory (which is saturated with Ghee goodies) and scoured the store several times. In the end, this is what I came up with. Let’s see if it makes the first cut. (passes out!)

Pink Lady Cocktail:

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine syrup
  • 1 teaspoon half-and-half cream
  • 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger gin
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Directions:

Pour the egg white, grenadine syrup, half-and-half, and gin into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover, and shake like crazy until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled glass to serve.

Last Train Leaving My Comfort Zone…

It has been a busy busy time the last few weeks. I love being busy in SL though, don’t  you? I love my job, working for Mr. Lefevre, and for the MISS SL Organization. I’ve started a new course. I finally was given the opportunity to write an article that has been close to my heart for a long time. (Coming soon in the April issue of MISS SL Magazine). I was fortunate enough to attend a really great seminar given by Beatrice Serendipity, one of the designers from Ghee, and another one given by Frolic Mills. I also was able to collect on my 2 hr one on one consult with Mr. Mills. That was incredible. It always amazes me how much you can learn in such a short time.

In fact, today’s offering is a direct result of both Bea’s seminar and my time with Mr. Mills. I have no idea what either of them will think of this styling, but they are both responsible for me going in a completely new direction. I have to say I love it! I hope they like it too, but for me, this hasn’t been an exercise in how I could dress to please them, or someone else. This was about me doing something so not me, and loving the heck out of it anyway.

It all started with the hair. I was in a club and a woman standing next to me had this hair. I had never heard of the store before, but the moment I saw it I knew i had to have it. So I tried to be discrete while clicking and inspecting her hair. Do you ever feel weird doing that? Its as if you’re groping a complete stranger, without their consent, and it wasn’t even good enough for them to notice. Is that creepy? So anyway, I found the store, dashed over there, snatched up the dreads, and started putting it all together. The store by the way is Soonsiki. I’ve never been all that into dreadlocks but omigosh I saw so many different styles there that I am just chomping at the bit to get my hands on.

Next came the necklace. I wanted something that I could wear in place of a top. Something sexy but not too revealing. The necklace and earrings are from Zibska. I adore the colors of this set. There is a hud with several color choices, all of them beautiful. Zibska is a great store to get unique, statement pieces that can take an outfit from “nice” to “WOW”.

These harem pants are from Miamai. Some of my all time favorite pieces have come from that store. Very sexy but elegant. I love this color and the shimmer. They are casual, funky, chic, and elegant all at the same time. Definitely a great find!

I’m sure I will slip back into my very comfortable, secretarial clothing soon. But I have to admit, replacing a chignon with these locks has definitely been an eye-opener. I’m thinking casual Friday has just gotten a whole lot more fun = )

Recipe:


Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Ingredients:

  • 2 kiwis, peeled and diced

  • 2 Golden Delicious apples – peeled, cored and diced

  • 8 ounces raspberries

  • 1 pound strawberries

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor

  •  10 (10 inch) flour tortillas

  • butter flavored cooking spray

  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit mixture.

Being Ghee…

Is there anything better than being a Ghee Girl in the Springtime? All these lovely pastels make me want to pet bunnies and let lil birdies perch on my finger.  Well today is an extra special day at Ghee because It is the first day of Ferosh for Spring and Ghee has a gorgeous new collection! Dresses galore, shoes aplenty, bags, glasses, Slink nails and oh my! Im feeling flushed and giddy! Oh, and I heard a rumor it’s someone’s birthday. I can’t say who, but if you’re thinking it’s one of the Ghee designers, you’re getting warm.  Annnnnnndddddddd I also heard that in honor of the aforealmostbarelymentioned birthday, Ghee will be opening up their VIP Group for FREE!! Happy Happy Birthday!!!!!

So there are so many lovely offerings in this new collection, it was difficult to decide what to showcase first. Since I was going to romp and play a bit today, I decided on this super cute A Line Dress. It’s pretty and ladylike but still fun and young enough to be free spirited and playful. These long fringe heels are so delicious I want to line them up like cupcakes and … this is one of those moments when I realize I should not finish that thought out loud. But you get the idea.

Lemonade-Mint Iced Tea


Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons crushed fresh mint leaves
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 quarts brewed iced tea
  • 1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

Directions:

  1. In a 1 gallon pitcher, combine the mint leaves, 1 quart of boiling water, and sugar. Stir to dissolve sugar. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  2. Stir in the cold tea and lemonade concentrate. Serve in tall glasses over ice. Strain out mint leaves, if desired.

Secret Chocolate Fantasy Cake


Ingredients:

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package devil’s food cake mix

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup coffee flavored liqueur

  • 1/2 cup hazelnut liqueur

  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Irish cream liqueur

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, sour cream, coffee liqueur, hazelnut liqueur and oil. Beat until very smooth. Stir in chocolate chips.
  2. Pour batter into the greased and floured pans of you choice, and bake as directed on the cake box or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean. Wait until it’s completely cool to frost.
  3. For the frosting: Cream the butter. Add 1/2 of the powdered sugar, blend well. Add the cocoa and vanilla, and start pouring the Bailey’s over the icing while your beaters beat in the rest of the sugar. Keep adding Bailey’s until you have wonderfully creamy icing.
  4. Frost the cake (I like to press chopped nuts into the fresh icing). It’s best served after a day or two.

Pomp and Circumstance

Miss SL 105 d Miss SL 105 b Miss SL 105 c Miss SL 105 a Miss SL 105 eSo WOW! What a week! I had the honor of participating in One on One Modeling Academy’s class. This week they merged with the Miss SL Organization to become Miss SL Modeling Academy. This weekend was an intense 3 day  class which culminated in a runway show challenge and graduation.  It was an amazing experience. I’ve learned so much, and I hope to continue to learn.

I am still not sure that I will actively pursue modeling within Second Life. I originally decided to take the course in order to better serve my employer, Marcus Lefevre. The class was an incredible learning opportunity, one that opened my eyes to so many new things in this virtual world we share. I do believe it has made me better equipped to perform my job as Mr. Lefevre’s Personal Assistant. And I cannot deny that even though I did NOT want to walk the runway today, it was a thrilling experience.

The teachers at the Academy have all been wonderful. I would whole heartily recommend Miss SL Modeling Academy to anyone.

Now after a long harrowing weekend of being critiqued, scrutinized, chastised, and molded for the runway, I needed some major comfort food. I know if you haven’t heard of this before you are going to think ewwww!  But trust me! This will make you feel like you’re in a warm chocolate hug that will cure just about any stressful moment you find yourself in.


CHOCOLATE GRAVY

Ingredients:

Original recipe makes 8 servings
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add cocoa and flour; stir until a thick paste is formed. Stir in sugar and milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat, add vanilla, stirring until well mixed.

Serve over fresh homemade biscuits with a pat of butter, and of course don’t forget the bacon!

When They Want To Ruffle Your Feathers Make Those Feathers Shine!

Yes it has been far too long since my last post. But if you only knew …forget it. If you are reading this, you’re not reading it to be a voluntary virtual therapist. But if you happen to know one, tell them to bring a couch. I’m ready!

Today I bring to you yet one more “This was my assignment” blog. I am beginning to think my teachers are mocking me. I mean, seriously? That is not a bird I would even roast.

The assignment was to take this box of goodies they gave us, such as this ummm… peculiar fowl costume, pick apart the pieces, edit them, reassemble them, add our own touches and create something FABULOUS!!

I do have to say the class was amazing! The teacher, Naar Rexen (naarnisse), taught us how to edit prims and use them in our stylings, even adding them to mesh. I learned so much I was excited to get started on my homework. That is until I saw bird brain here. And trust me…this was the best thing in the goodie box.

So I began playing with all the various costumes and things they gave us. A friend tutored me on creating textures for mesh. I tore things apart, colored them, added things, threw away things and then tossed it all out the window. Several times. This was not nearly as easy as I thought it was going to be.

But finally I was kissed by a muse….and this is how My Lil Peacock came to be.

I used bits and pieces from the box o’ goodies, plus various items I already had in my inventory. I did purchase the hair though. Oh! And the fingernail hud.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

(or peacock)

Ingredients

Original recipe makes 2 whole (4 pound) chickens Change Servings
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 onions, quartered

  • 2 (4 pound) whole chickens

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together salt, paprika, onion powder, thyme, white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Remove and discard giblets from chicken. Rinse chicken cavity, and pat dry with paper towel. Rub each chicken inside and out with spice mixture. Place 1 onion into the cavity of each chicken. Place chickens in a resealable bag or double wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight, or at least 4 to 6 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
  3. Place chickens in a roasting pan. Bake uncovered for 5 hours, to a minimum internal temperature of 180 degrees F (85 degrees C). Let the chickens stand for 10 minutes before carving.
